The more I play, the more I like this board! There can be a lot going on and to think about believe it or not. Your two attacks are precious - be sure to use "A" or "T" when you have more than 3 units to attack with. You also have to realize how hard it is to get a successful attack to take out a unit to do well on this board. Wonderful idea for a board and I love the layout and graphics.

This is a very straightforward, fun, fast paced and enjoyable game. Plus the graphics are awesome!

I would rate it higher, but I think starting position just plays too big a role in who wins.

Marvels Manhattan rated  Superb
This map is Simulgear, and I think really requires some experience with playing this game type (as opposed to turn based) in order to do well on it. The game plays very fast, with the ability to reinforce troops to potentially anywhere on the board if you own capitals (buildings) and/or subways and then attack with them on the same turn!

I've seen a few different tactics be successful as well, so this isn't a board where one strategy is the most optimal 100% of the time.

The graphics and design are perfect for the game as well.

I'm with BlackDog in wondering why this board isn't played more often!

Gear Wars: Episode I rated  Good
I've played the "fixed" (a.k.a. "not easy opening") version. This is a very enjoyable dueling map. I initially thought the Rebels have the advantage, but after playing many times feel that this map is well balanced. It can seem like the Empire is screwed after the first turn, but they have a +10 bonus that is well guarded.

You have limited attacks, so remember to use "A" and "T"! It can also be confusing as to what attacks what, so always check your plan for the turn to make sure what you think attacks what actually does.

The game is usually fast paced, and therefore the dice can play a huge factor, but always remember if you get killed on a turn, don't despair - the dice can just as easily do the same to your opponent.

I really enjoy this board! So different from the norm. Having a 3-way game is also very rare. You have to know what's going on and not get caught up fighting with one player, else the other player will win! The graphics are very cool, but it is hard to see what you are shooting at from time to time.

I've played it a few times and can see a few different approaches working (however, depending on what your opponents do in any given game, not all approaches are available to use and win with).

I think the Old Crow is overvalued by a lot of players - if it took 1 off everyone's bonus each turn, that would make it more valuable, but as it is now, it only eliminates a unit if you have 2 or more in your coin box at the start of the turn.

Fun board!

I tell my kids all the time: "The word of the day is... patience"... that applies to this game to the extreme! You have to have a good feel for when to attack, but let your units build up first. Player 1 has an advantage with always getting the 3 extra units first. IMO, the game would be better with total fog since you can see if your opponent takes over the bacon.

Wonderful board! Looks great and has many secenarios to choose from. Quick and easy board to play, which means of course that starting position can play a key role.

The more I play it, the more I like it! I initially was concerned it was just a luck map, and bad dice early will doom you, but I do think there are enough choices and strategies (and counters) to make this a fast-paced fun game that is not always played the exact same way each time.

Forget one bad turn - one bad roll and you could be done! This game plays extremely fast and gives a big advantage to players who go first in the turn order. You must be aggressive to win and use your 5 transfers very carefully!

My big complaint is that you can be elimianted without ever taking a turn - more neutrals to protect the access points to other players starting points would help.

I also get frustrated that you have to defeat an occupied territory to get a card (there are so many vacant territories it's hard to do it after the first couple turns sometimes). If you are behind to need cards and it's just hard to get them.

Overall it's a fast paced game and you need some luck on your side to win.

I have played a tournament on this board with 2-person teams, and that was much more enjoyable for me than solo.

This map plays a lot differently than many others - and that's a good thing! Slow and steady wins the race here - start out too fast and you are ripe for someone else to come in and wipe you out. Great fun with 7 players (it starts out as balanced as can be that way).

Cards reset after 15, so you can have very long matches where everyone has lots of units. I like that you can't count on the "chain reaction" for the win on this map.

End of line :)

Awesome graphics - just amazing. Gameplay is fast and easy. Very good board for 3 players, other player amounts run the risk of an unbalanced start.

A wonderful adaptation of the classic game. Just an outstanding job! The graphics have the look and feel of the original board, and the unit limits were a great idea and play out very well, sometimes requiring attacks from multiple territories or sea zones to conquer.

Great for teamplay and works well as a Free-For-All. In time after more games are played we will see if FFA really does give USA and Germany an advantage (which a tweak or two could take care of) or if strategies will be developed to balance the playing field.

Tower Defense rated  Perfect
This board requires a good balance of aggressiveness and defense, and knowing when to switch gears. Some games may last a while. Using the tunnels and transfers on your towers (which have a unit limit of 8) is key - and don't go to long without checking out the middle (+8 mines)! The lookout towers enable you to lift the fog for much of the board, but not all of it, so you can still keep some secrets from your enemies. The board I think is balanced enough where if one player takes out another player's camp, it's not all over for everyone else.

I'm probably a little bit partial to this board as I helped CK66 beta test this for a while (even back on ToS).

I've only played the 4 player version a few times so far.

It takes a little getting used to since at first it's tricky to figure out how to see things connect, but this board is very enjoyable and lends itself several succesful winning strategies.

You're not out of the game if you lose your saber, either. You don't want to lose it, but it's possible all isn't lost should you find yourself in that scenario if you have enough bonuses elsewhere.

Only bad point is like what others have said before me, the coloring of the circles can leave it a little hard to see who owns what sometimes.

Very enjoyable board - the addition of the moon and sea territories give new life to the classic RISK game - such a good idea! The graphics are a nice homage to the original board.

Lots of diplomacy is needed and patience. I think the board can play up to 6 very well without getting too much about eliminating people and getting their card bonuses.

I go back and forth on this board - I enjoy playing it and there definitely strategy involved... a nice balance between "should I be aggressive" and "if you are too aggressive you are screwed".

Dice play a huge factor - more so than the usual two player game - I've only seen one game in which the winner was negative on the "luck stats".

Of Kings and Men rated  Superb
This board has fantastic graphics, and I love the use of capitals and hordes - the +3 "huts" provide a nice balance. I've found that different strategies must be used depending on who you are playing. It's a usually quick and always fun game.

There are a couple of things I wish were different however: It seems to me that the one way entrance to the center castle can give an edge to whoever starts in the courtyard or areas surrounding it. I also think this game can really screw someone over with the random start - I've seen in 4 player games where people start last in the turn order and they have no territories surrounding a hut, and they are just screwed - never able to get any real bonuses going.

This map is offers a unique challenge. It will take you some time to get the hang of it.

You really can't expand too quickly or else you are vulnerable to getting all of your bonuses wiped out. Have to put that thinking cap on each turn!

Such a great idea with the roads all being -3... and the cards reset at 40, so the gameplay feature of not expanding too quickly is preserved throughout the game.

The capital can change the gameplay as someone usually gets it without knowing it is a capital. Might be more interesting if the capital was worth more than +2 and/or if there were more capitals around.

What can you say about classic RISK? It's the one that started it all.

Other boards on this site offer more gameplay and I'm just not a big fan of the games where cards just eventually overwhelm the potential bonuses, which always seems to happen when you get 4 or more players.

This board is great! Really rewards aggressive play. There are lots of bonuses to be had as well.

Going later in the order can be a big disadvantage however, for in being aggressive or trying to stop other people from early on bonuses you can leave yourself vulernable in your home mesa early on.
